Diving Deeper 🤿
Large language models excel at recognizing patterns across enormous datasets. But they do not possess the subtle, experience-based wisdom that human experts build over many years. That kind of wisdom comes from tribal knowledge, lived context, and intuition developed through long practice in specific domains.
Without the right enhancements, large language models can struggle in specialized areas and produce answers that sound reasonable but are wrong. Retrieval-augmented generation helps solve this by dynamically pulling evidence from carefully selected, domain-focused sources so that responses stay grounded in verifiable facts. This is a big part of what we’re doing with the Sprinklenet Knowledge Spaces platform.
One of our experimental projects built on top of Knowledge Spaces is FARbot, a prototype chatbot focused on the Federal Acquisition Regulation, which is the primary rule set for U.S. government procurement. We placed the full FAR corpus into a dedicated Knowledge Space and restricted answers to that trusted source, complete with citations for transparency. FARbot demonstrates how a tightly scoped, rules-aware chatbot can serve as a true knowledge asset rather than a general-purpose assistant. It’s an excellent tool for vertical domain inquiries, but it still operates below the level of the top 0.1% of super human experts who have encyclopedic knowledge of every emerging regulation. This is where combining Knowledge Spaces and fusing multiple sets of vertical data and intelligence becomes powerful.
Experts who excel often act like conductors, coordinating knowledge across related domains and knowing when to shift context. Knowledge Spaces supports this by allowing teams to maintain distinct, version-controlled collections of expertise that can be combined for a specific chatbot. Teams can test models from OpenAI, Google Gemini, Grok, or self-hosted options, and tune settings like temperature to find the right balance between accuracy and creativity while keeping outputs dependable.
Acknowledgment: The “conductor” concept comes from my friend Ken Beller of Near Bridge. Ken believes AGI is still likely 20 years away, though it could arrive sooner. Until that day, senior experts provide the judgment and intuition that LLMs lack. The right system architecture should capture and reflect that human insight.
Imagine extending FARbot by adding the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement and relevant parts of the Code of Federal Regulations. That modular approach would create a compliance-focused tool with greater nuance and precision. Even then, setup and governance still require strong human experts to guide system design, validate sources, and determine how knowledge should flow.

The result is personal expertise transformed into dependable systems that can be accessed and monetized at scale. I believe this is the right way to scale human judgment with AI, and I’m applying it across every knowledge-driven project we touch.

Start by identifying the areas where current tools and general-purpose AI fall short of your domain’s complexity. These gaps highlight opportunities to build intelligent, purpose-driven systems that can actually elevate your team’s performance.
Form small, cross-functional groups that include decision-makers, technical leads, and deep subject-matter experts. Use pilot projects to test real gains in accuracy, efficiency, and knowledge transfer. Schedule short, regular reviews to keep everyone aligned and focused on protecting intellectual property, data integrity, and ethical use.
Finally, give your leaders tangible proof. Show retrieval logs, citation coverage, and real-world results that illustrate how AI can enhance accuracy and consistency without losing human judgment. When they can see the evidence, trust follows.
Alignment happens when leaders understand that AI isn’t about replacing intuition — it’s about scaling it.
